Communications Center

The MedSTAR Communications Center plays a vital role in the services we provide and in our continued success. The Communications Center is responsible for dispatching and tracking MedSTAR's helicopter fleet and ground assets, as well as monitoring other ambulance vendors that move patients from outlying facilities into the MedStar Health system. MedSTAR also coordinates with Emergency Operations Centers across the region and the Washington Regional Transplant Consortium.

The 24/7 Communications Center is operated by a dedicated and professional staff that will facilitate all of your transport needs. They will expedite the referral, locate an admitting physician and coordinate the transport.

The state-of-the-art workstations where the Communications Specialists work are equipped with new dispatch and telecom programs, include real-time satellite tracking of the aircraft with color weather radar information and satellite telephone capabilities. There is also a live video of the helipads at the Washington Hospital Center to aid in monitoring air traffic in and out of MedSTAR.
