Ground Transport

The MedSTAR Transport ground division provides services for a wide array of patients coming to or leaving any MedStar Health facility.

We offer specialized patient care in our critical care ambulance. A flight nurse and paramedic staff this ambulance to transport critically ill patients when flying is not an option. The critical care ambulance also enables us to provide bariatric and neonatal transports.

We contract for non-critical care ground services with local commercial ambulance providers to provide:

• Basic Life Support Services – Staffed with two Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (EMT-B)
• Advanced Life Support Services – Staffed with one EMT-B and one Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic (EMT-P)
• Wheelchair Transport – Staffed according to the Washington Metropolitan Transit Commission guidelines
